Mr. Felix Obuah |
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as misleading, the views of the acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, on the alleged N82 million used in hosting Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, by the administration of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
The party’s Chairman, Felix Obuah, in a statement said Semenitari failed to state how the money was spent and alleged that the money was diverted from what it was originally meant for.
Semenitari had come out to explain that the N82 million was judiciously used for the purpose of the dinner and dismissed the allegation of corruption.
The state’s Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, apologised to Soyinka, telling him that the corruption allegation over the dinner was masterminded by Governor Nyesom Wike and that ‘it will fail.’
But Obuah said the N82 million belonged to the tax paying people of the state, and its use should have been justified, rather than being diverted.
“What a fallacy. Yet Semenitari wants the people to believe these incoherent fabrications,” he said.
The PDP chairman also urged the NDDC boss to focus her energy on running the commission and desist from ‘halftruths, disinformation, deception, outright lies.’
