Armed Robbers Brutally Beaten To Death By A Mob In Lagos

Armed robbers were caught and beaten up to death by the local people on Monday, January 18, on Fadeyi street, Lagos.

According to the original message that appeared on the Igboist account on Facebook, four criminals were caught on Monday afternoon after their attempt to rob a woman off N200, 000 at gunpoint near Fadeyi bustop had failed. Reportedly, they later died from the sustained injures.

There was a mixed reaction on the part of the Facebook users commenting on the incident. One group of respondents strongly condemned their fellows for what they dubbed “jungle justice”.

Doris Iloegbu: Even if they deserve it, is this not just barbaric? A fellow human being wasted in this manner; are we better? The people that did this, how do they sleep at night? I pray for change of heart in everyone.

Nosa Kelvin Ediagbonya: Too bad of anybody that has hand. This is humiliating and barbaric. They don’t have to take laws into their hands; they would have handed over to the police instead of beating them to death. God will judge all.

Chisom Okeke: This is wickedness. Why are people taking law into their hands? Those that beats them to death will answer questions from God.

Adaora Angel: This isn’t a fair judgement. This is brutality. How can a human being inflict pain on another human being? It’s not fair. Putting them in prison is much better than beating them to death. God have mercy.

Amara Onwudiwe: Must they beat them like this? Who amongst us does not sin against us, and yet he forgives us on the daily basis. I don’t think this is the best way to handle them.
Other users approved of the way the armed robbers had been dealt with.

Christian Alexis Emegwa: That 200k could be that woman’s life savings, and they wanted to take it away from her. So they deserve the death.

Faith Lebechukwu: He that kill by sword, shall die by sword… They have no mercy… What they did to people during Christmas was heartbreaking… some set of people was robbed on 31/1 while coming back from church.

Victor Emebo: When you see what these robbers do to people you won’t pity them. I have been a robbery victim, and I can’t forget the way blood gushed out of my body from the machete cut inflicted on me by one of the robbers; another stabbed my younger brother deep right into his shoulder even as we obeyed their orders. Robbers shouldn’t be forgiven especially when armed… I have no pity at all, they deserved to die.

Readers, what is your take in this. Do you think its appropriate to take laws in our hands?
